About Us
Alternative Opportunities, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization working in the States of Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma providing services to:
- People with disabilities
- Families and children in crisis
- People needing work supports
- Youth transitioning to independence
- Women and their families with substance abuse problems

Vision and Values:
Our vision is of communities where all people are valued, have the opportunity to be employed, can live in a family setting or home of their own and are able to build positive connections with other people. We believe all people should be respected and should be vitally involved in creating their own services and building their own lives.

Organization:
We began with a small team back in 1991 and have now grown to have many larger and small teams throughout Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, all providing a variety of community based services. Alternative Opportunities, Inc. is managed by the Resource Team, a team comprised of 5 experts all of whom are leaders in their respective fields. This team of five individuals, as a group, makes management decisions and implements policies and procedures approved by the Board of Directors. The Resource Team has been working together since the forming of the organization and brings together people with different talents but essentially the same vision.
Each region and each office throughout Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma has a team of people who work together to create individualized services for the people we serve. Over the years, we have learned from the people we serve, and our employees, as we have worked as a team to improve the way we support our clients, provide services, and work to cultivate respect in our communities.
Today we are proud to employ over 2,000 dedicated staff and provide life enhancing services for more than 20,000 people throughout Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
